David and Louise Turpin first met when he was 17 years old, and she was just 10. Due to the disapproval of Louise’s father, Wayne Robinette, a strict pastor at a local church, they had to hide their relationship for a while. Her mother, Phyllis, supported the relationship. Then in 1985, after much insistence and a frustrated escape by the two, they finally got married — David at the age of 23, and Louise at just 16.

Louise Ann Turpin was born in May 1968 and had an abusive and troubled childhood. In a statement to the Daily Mail and also through her book the (Sister of Secrets), Elizabeth Flores, Louise’s younger sister, reported that the two were regularly sold by their mother to a wealthy pedophile who molested them and raped them in exchange for money. Sometimes, their closest cousin, Patricia, also ended up being harassed by the man. Louise, however, being the eldest, was always the target, including her maternal grandfather, John Taylor, a decorated military man. She even begged her mother not to let the pedophiles take her; the woman, however, said that she needed to feed and clothe them.
