The incident happened in Germany on March 6, 1981. It was the third day of trial for 35-year-old Butcher Klaus Grabowski. He was being accused of killing Anna, a 7-year-old girl who was his neighbour. Tension was in the air during that crowded courtroom trial. But, no one expected what was about to happen. One of the people who were close to the accused in court was the victim’s mother, Marianne Bachmeier. Her heart was filled with anger and a desire for revenge. The grieving mother couldn’t bear to look at that man, and she needed to express all the pain she was feeling.

A mother’s last deed

It was then that Marianne pulled out a gun and fired eight shots at Klaus. Of the eight shots, six hit him squarely, and the accused died on the spot, before being found guilty. From that moment on, Marianne made headlines in the newspapers with the nickname “Mother of Vengeance”, starring in what became known as “the most spectacular case of vigilante justice in German post-war history”.
