Eugenia Martínez Vallejo, also known as “La Monstrua,” was born in 1674 in the village of La Puebla de los Infantes in the province of Seville, Spain. Her parents were Cristóbal Martínez and Isabel Vallejo, and she had two older brothers.
According to accounts from the time, Eugenia was a large baby, weighing over 10 pounds at birth. Her size continued to increase throughout her childhood, and by the age of five, she was already too big to fit in a regular chair.
Eugenia’s size began to attract attention. She reportedly weighed over 300 pounds by the time she was 10 years old, and her weight continued to increase throughout her life.
Eugenia’s parents reportedly sought medical advice for their daughter’s condition, but there were no effective treatments available at the time. As a result, Eugenia’s weight continued to increase, and by the age of 10, she weighed over 300 pounds.
Despite her size, Eugenia was said to be a happy and good-natured child. She loved to sing and dance, and she was known for her kind and generous personality.
